Assignment #1

Emma Woodhouse is an attractive, clever, rich, daughter of Mr. Woodhouse. She is one major protagonist, and a gossiper. Isabella Woodhouse is eldest daughter if the Woodhouses. She's the sister of Emma, and she  loves being a wife and mother. Mr. Woodhouseis the father of Emma and Isabella. He is a noble, sweet, but nervous man. Miss Taylor is a kind woman. She is Emma's governess, and quite fond of Emma.
Mr. Watson is the character who marries Miss Taynor. He has pleasant manners, and easy fortune.
Mr. John Knightley is the husband of Isabella. He is also a kind man. Mr. George Knightley is the older brother of Isabella's husband. He is also cheerful- which always did him good.

The setting takes place at the Woodhouse home at night (Mr. George Khightly pays a visit to Mr. Woodhouse's home to talk and congradulate him for his daughters happy marriage.) pg.6

The conflict in the story is that Emma Woodhouse is a spoiled girl. She can be  a snob at times, and has a big mouth. But, she is also kind an sweet at times as well. But, because of all the easy things that she got in her elegant life, she's had a disposition of thinking too well of herself; these were the disadvantages which threatened to her many enjoyments. But, she loves her father and  tries to perk up her father or humors him when he is down. But still, her father doesn't feel that her presence and care will help him. He was a nervous and old, sick man, and mostly Isabella was his main caretaker. He likes Isabella and how she cared for his father everyday, rather than Emma did. But becasue Isabella is older now, Emma is the only one that can care and nurture him because he is a old man and Isabella has her own life with her newly husband. But, he's not quite sure she can help him. He rather prefers Isabella to be his caretaker, because he knows Emma couldn't meet the stakes to care for him, because she usually, mostly cares for herself. (Chapter 1-3)

I predict that Emma will become more aware of her fathers "troubling self" because her father said to himself that he was indeed troublesome, because he is so nervous now a days since Isabella is gone. When Emma heard what her father said about himself, it startled her and opened Emma's eyes to look out more for her father, and take care of him. (Chapter 1- pg.6)
I predict that Emma and Mr. George Knightly will have some kind of a special relationship, based on my observations of how well they communicate and how well Mr. George Knightly treates and humors Emma. Mr. Woodhouse likes the fact that he does that to Emma and is fond of Mr. George Knightly. (pg. 5-8)
